Intranet launch for BBC Worldwide
March 30th, 2010

BBC Worldwide

BBC Worldwide’s diverse portfolio of 22 channel brands are broadcast to over 300 million homes in more than 100 countries on every inhabited continent in the world. Whether you are a programme scheduler or in advertising sales at BBC Worldwide, developing empathy with your audience is an overwhelming prospect.

This is where Project Frankenstein comes in. Designed and built by Red Nomad, ‘Frankie’ is a colourful and dynamic fully content managed intranet that fulfills the need for a single touch point where the various disciplines at BBC Worldwide can immerse themselves in a country and its culture before embarking on a new campaign, schedule or promo. It puts audience familiarity at the fingertips of everyone at BBC Worldwide in a richly interactive and customisable interface and makes the task of analysing and making sense of viewing figures and market research a rich and rewarding experience.

Welcome
October 22nd, 2009

We’re a little different from everyone else in that we like to keep things personal and flexible. In fact we’ve been so busy giving our clients so much love that it’s been a while since we updated our website. With our 4th birthday fast approaching we thought it was about time we did something about it. Below is a summary of what we’ve been up to for the last few months. You can also see all our previous work here. And remember to check back often or follow us on Twitter for all the latest news.

Raw Computers
Client: BBC
Visit the site: www.bbc.co.uk/raw/computers

Raw Computers

BBC Raw is the BBC’s new learning offer aimed at people who have difficulty with literacy, numeracy and computers. Red Nomad was invited to develop an ICT-skills website aimed at people who have never touched a computer and are reluctant to do so. The goal was to create a standalone experience, without facilitator intervention to give independent learners the skills they need to use their computer and the internet.

From the outset we aimed to create something truly unique never before seen in interactive learning. Following a four week shoot over 60 hours of video material were edited down to 4.5 hours before being integrated into an interactive shell. The result is a seamless and highly interactive and engaging piece of e-learning that provides over six hours of rich content.

Raw Computers is currently nominated for two BIMA awards.

Inishturkbeg
Client: Inishturkbeg Ventures
Visit the site: www.inishturkbeg.com

Inishturkbeg

Inishturkbeg is the most unusual of luxury travel destinations; a private island located off the coast of Ireland in the Atlantic. But above all Inishturkbeg is an idea, a philosophy of living infused by the island itself. It is a place where the senses are heightened and life is vividly lived. The website is the home of the brand, embodying the spirit of the island, and providing a home for various other sub-brands which currently include a stud for Cannomera ponies and a line of smoked fish sold exclusively at Harrods and soon to be sold through the website. But this is only the beginning!

Rubik’s Cube
Client: Rubik’s
Visit the site: www.rubiks.com

Rubik's Cube

Red Nomad has been working with Rubik’s for the last two years, since we originally created the global website for this iconic brand, including an online shop with multi-national fulfilment and a thriving online community. The website enjoys well over 5,000 unique visitors a day from all over the world and is currently localised in Spanish with many other languages to follow over the coming months.

Red Nomad is tasked with keeping content fresh on a monthly basis as well as constantly improving the site’s technical infrastructure. A new U.S. shop is also on the way. Rubiks.com is entirely built on a SiteCore content management system foundation.

Mortgage Help
Client: Communities and Local Government
Visit the site: mortgagehelp.direct.gov.uk

Mortgage Help

Red Nomad was given four weeks to conceptualise, design, build and launch a website to help people facing repossession of their homes. It’s projects like this where our unique approach to project management really comes into play, allowing us to deliver the project on time and on budget whilst satisfying the needs of many stakeholders and adhering fully to a number of accessibility and usability standards.

The website, which employs the SiteCore content management system, includes a sophisticated diagnostics tool that allows users to generate bespoke action plans based on their specific circumstances. Red Nomad is retained to make a number of developments to the website and undertake extensive user research and site optimisation. We have also developed online advertising to support the site.

Muck In4Life
Client: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Visit the site: muckin4life.direct.gov.uk

Muck In4Life

Muck In4Life is a sub-campaign of Change4Life, inspiring people to make small changes to their lifestyles to improve health and well-being. As part of Defra’s targets to increase biodiversity, it was identified that increasing the numbers of people participating in conservation volunteering is an important step in involving citizens in the natural environment around them. This objective was tied into the Department of Health’s Change4Life strategy and commitment was made to communicate conservation volunteering as the sort of physical activity which is accessible to families who are the main focus of Change4Life.

The website provides information on conservation volunteering, with the objectives to increase awareness that being active in green space and the natural environment has physical and health benefits and to inspire people to take part. This will then drive traffic to stakeholder websites. The website was built using the Sitecore content management system with content being managed on a monthly basis by Red Nomad.

Ali Cook
Client: Ali Cook
Visit the site: www.alicook.com

Ali Cook

A small but perfectly formed website for friend, comedian and magician Ali Cook. The site brings together all of Ali’s activities across social networks including Facebook, Myspace, YouTube and Twitter and allows him and his team to keep content up to date easily.

Maths Matters
Client: Rubik’s

Maths Matters

This is a pilot project for Rubik’s, currently being tested extensively in two schools. The idea is to provide an integrated ‘universe’ where progress through the mathematics curriculum is monitored and saved. Students are given a unique login to a 3D environment where each planet represents a broad subject area, for example geometry, and each continent on each planet provides modular content linked through to third party maths assessment applications. As students progress they collect credits allowing them to customise the environments with bigger and better buildings and landscapes. Teachers are able to customise the universe to their individual needs and track student progress through the back-end. The result is an engaging and completely unique approach to making maths learning fun.
